Twenty years after China’s “Black-blood Economy” where a million Chinese citizens were infected with HIV and countless numbers died from AIDS, thousands of rural peasants still suffer the consequences. Their plight is hidden from the eyes of the world and strongly censored by Chinese authorities. Ximei is a young woman from rural Henan Province who contracted AIDS and has dedicated herself to telling the world of the people who continue to suffer. Even now officials try to terrorize Ximei into silence. Her courageous actions and fiery character transform the tragedy of Henan’s HIV-infected outcasts into lives of hope and dignity.
