On January 5th, 2006, 14-year old Martin Lee Anderson was incarcerated in a juvenile detention “boot camp” in Bay County, Florida.  18 hours later he was pronounced dead at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida.  This is the story of the intersection of race, class and the juvenile justice system.  Through unflinching interviews with the family, state government officials, civil rights groups, student activists, journalists and media scholars, BEATING JUSTICE uncovers the system of abuse and denial that resulted in the death of a teenage boy, the acquital of seven guards and a challenge to the juvenile justice in the State of Florida.
